since the essence of their being is no longer given attention, they are left feeling fractured and
incomplete. They feel like something is missing. It is.

Is it any wonder that we develop low self-esteem as children? It’s hard to feel good about yourself when
you don’t trust your decisions or actions. You can’t have a good self-image when you don’t believe that
you are a capable or worthy human being.

It is easy to believe this when you are losing, or have lost touch with the part of yourself that is completely
trustworthy, the part that knows. By trying to please the outer world, you lose touch with the part of
yourself that is always a friend, that always finds satisfaction in your efforts, and that allows you to find
delight in yourself, and in life’s experiences and circumstances.

If it goes on long enough, as it does if this is practiced from childhood, it becomes a behavior pattern.
However, it still does not feel good.

As a result, many people feel not quite good enough, and some feel completely unworthy.
